Case Study: Creating a New Dental Practice at Fatima Health Centre, Fulwood

Introduction

Smart Dental Care partnered with Hira Interiors and Dental Engineering to create a state-of-the-art dental practice within the new health centre in Fulwood, Preston. This collaborative project aimed to provide exceptional facilities for both private and NHS patients, ensuring accessibility and the highest standards of care.

The Vision

The new practice was meticulously designed to cater to both private and NHS clinics. Each section includes its own reception and waiting areas, ensuring a smooth and welcoming patient experience. The private side features a treatment coordinator’s room, three surgeries, and a cutting-edge CT scanner suite, while the NHS side includes six surgeries. Shared spaces include staff welfare facilities, clean and dirty decontamination rooms, toilets, and a plant room. The practice is fully accessible to disabled patients, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and modern healthcare standards.

Hira Interiors’ Contributions

Hira Interiors managed the interior design and construction aspects of the project, delivering:

  • A thoughtfully designed layout that maximised functionality and patient comfort.
  • A modern colour scheme and aesthetic that fosters a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
  • Fitted cabinetry in all surgeries and the decontamination rooms.
  • Coordination of all construction works to ensure seamless project delivery.

Their expertise ensured the environment was both visually appealing and optimised for efficiency and hygiene.

Dental Engineering’s Contributions

  • Installing nine Catani Micro Smart suction systems
  • Supplying a full range of NSK handpieces to enhance treatment precision and reliability.
  • Setting up decontamination rooms with two Midmark B18 full vacuum autoclaves, one Midmark N18 non-vacuum autoclave, a reverse osmosis system for clinical-quality water, and an NSK iCare handpiece maintenance unit.
  • Establishing an advanced imaging suite with an Acteon X-Mind Prime 2 3D CT scanner.
  • Installing two Cattani AC300 compressors in the plant room to provide clean, dry air, ensuring seamless operation across the practice.

All equipment was selected for its user-friendliness, reliability, long warranty periods, and low maintenance costs, delivering value and efficiency for the practice.
